Sharjah Police arrested a man in possession of 18,670 pieces of fireworks without a legal permit, using his vehicle for promotional activities.
The suspect was apprehended following precise monitoring and investigations carried out by specialised teams, which resulted in finding out the storage location, the seizure of the quantities, and their impoundment according to approved legal procedures, in preparation for taking legal measures.
Colonel Dr. Khalifa Balhai, Director of the Criminal Investigation Directorate at Sharjah Police, affirmed that the irresponsible use of fireworks causes panic and anxiety among community members, especially children and the elderly, due to the sudden noises they cause.
He emphasised that maintaining community security and stability is a top priority that cannot be compromised. Balhai noted that Sharjah Police continue to implement supervisory campaigns in coordination with relevant authorities, as part of an ongoing plan to curb these phenomena.
He called on parents to enhance family supervision and educate their children about the legal and health risks associated with using fireworks.
The General Command of Sharjah Police also urged community members to reject these practices and their promoters, and to cooperate with police by reporting any suspicious activities via the number 901, in support of security efforts and to establish a safe and stable environment in the emirate.
