Dealing with medications during Ramadan is one of the issues that most concern patients, especially if the number of doses of these medications is two or more.
A recent study warned against taking medication immediately after breaking one’s fast, as this can cause stomach irritation and nausea after fasting for many hours.

It also cautioned against adjusting the dosage without consulting a doctor, which can lead to decreased effectiveness or increased side effects. Patients with diabetes and high blood pressure are among the groups most at risk.
Furthermore, suddenly stopping the use of certain medications, such as thyroid, heart and antibiotic medications, can lead to serious health setbacks, which requires medication intake to be regulated during Ramadan under medical supervision.
