The Mohamed Bin Zayed Sat (MBZ-Sat) captured two high-resolution images of Kuwait, one of Kuwait City and the other of Jaber Al Ahmad International Stadium to mark Kuwait’s 65th National Day, according to a tweet posted by Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) on the X platform.
Meanwhile, Dr Sultan Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, retweeted the post, commenting, “I congratulate our brothers in the State of Kuwait on their 65th National Day. The people of Kuwait are our people and hold a great place in our hearts. The brotherhood that unites us with them is a trust that we preserve from one generation to another.”
The MBZ-Sat, which orbits the Earth at around 550km above Earth’s surface, is distinguished by its ability to capture very high-resolution images, reaching small areas of less than one square metre, and its speed in processing data. It also has an automated system for arranging images round the clock and is 4 times faster in transmitting and downloading data compared to the previous capabilities of satellites.
The most advanced satellite in the region, the MBZ-SAT, whuich was developed entirely by national hands and minds in the UAE, was launched into space on January 14, 2025, at 11:09PM UAE local time, from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA, aboard SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
Later, the MBRSC’s team began operating and managing the satellite from Al Khawaneej Control Centre in Dubai.
