Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is organising the third edition of “Ramadan Lamma” at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation from Feb.26 to March 1, 2026, offering a family-oriented Ramadan experience that reflects the cultural and spiritual values of the Holy Month.
The event will take place in a welcoming Ramadan setting designed to encourage families and members of the wider community to come together through shared cultural experiences, reinforcing the museums’ role as hubs for learning, reflection and social connection during Ramadan.
Held under the theme “Gardens and Tales,” this year’s event highlights SMA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community engagement and reaffirming museums as dynamic cultural spaces that combine education and entertainment, offering enriching experiences for all the members of the community throughout Ramadan while presenting culture in an accessible and engaging format.
“Ramadan Lamma” features a diverse programme of cultural, educational, and recreational activities, including interactive workshops for children and families, cultural and educational games, theatrical performances and competitions, family seating areas, and a dedicated food corner, creating a holistic experience that captures the spirit of the Holy Month and caters to visitors of all ages.
The programme also highlights the museum’s “Cultural Landscapes of Al Andalus” temporary exhibition through guided tours, enriching visitors’ cultural experience and strengthening their connection with the museum’s collections and interpretive narratives.
The exhibition features more than 60 artistic and historical pieces, including a selection of artefacts being displayed for the first time in Sharjah, showcasing the agricultural and cultural heritage of Al Andalus through a vivid narrative that blends the aesthetics of nature with the depth of human experience.
Sharjah Museums Authority acknowledges the participation and support of several entities in the third edition of “Ramadan Lamma.”
Sharjah Coop will provide a variety of prizes for participants, while the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), through the Sharjah Islamic Botanical Garden, along with Sharjah Heritage Museum, will deliver specialized workshops.
As part of its efforts to encourage public engagement with museums during Ramadan, Sharjah Museums Authority announced that entry to the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation will be free throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The museum houses more than 5,000 artefacts documenting various aspects of Islamic history, allowing visitors to discover rare collections including Islamic manuscripts, Qur’ans, architectural models of historic mosques, coins, inventions by Muslim scholars, and artefacts that highlight the development of arts and sciences in Islamic civilisation.
The museum will operate in two daily periods, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm, from Saturday to Thursday, while remaining closed on Fridays.
All museums under the Authority will be closed during evening hours in the last ten days of Ramadan.
This initiative offers visitors the opportunity to explore one of SMA’s most prominent museums and one of Sharjah’s leading cultural destinations.
The third edition of “Ramadan Lamma” builds on the success of previous editions, with the second edition held under the theme “Letters and Words,” while the inaugural edition was launched under the title “Ramadan Lamma,” as part of a sustainable vision to enhance the cultural and social role of museums across the Emirate of Sharjah.
In this context, Sharjah Museums Authority invites families and members of the community to immerse themselves in this rich and engaging experience, and to take part in the diverse activities and programmes offered by the event, fostering family connections and enriching the cultural atmosphere of Ramadan.
