Amana Healthcare successfully rehabilitated a patient named Claudio, who suffered a life-threatening accident a year ago which resulted in severe injuries.
Amana provided Claudio with support from a multidisciplinary team, gradually enabling him to regain his strength.
Claudio’s wife said, “A year ago, my husband had a serious car accident, which forced him to stay four months in the hospital.
“He suffered from hemiplegia and a collapsed lung, and had to have a tracheostomy. His body was full of edema and was heavily dependent on a ventilator and oxygen.
“After a long period of hospitalisation, he developed bedsores but the medical team gradually managed to control the edema, then he was weaned off the ventilator, and recently, his oxygen supply was stopped. The wound is now under control, and we hope it will fully heal in the coming months.”
Dr Jason Gray, CEO of Amana Healthcare, added, “Stories like Claudio’s remind us of the core of our mission. Healing is much deeper than medical practice, at its heart lies kindness, trust, empathy, and human connections which give patients the strength to persevere and continue.”
Recently, Amana Healthcare received a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Spinal Cord Specialty Programme and long-term care services at Amana Healthcare Village.
