The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), under the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi, has introduced a convenient service for topping up the "Hafilat" public transport card.
This service allows public transport users in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to effortlessly recharge their card balance through the Tamm platform, offering the added benefit of secure electronic payment for seamless transportation within the Emirate.
To proceed, start by accessing the Tamm platform through its website or the Tamm smart application. Log in using your Smart Pass, and then choose the "Recharge of the Hafilat card" service. Enter your Hafilat card number, select the desired recharge amount, and finalize the process with a secure and straightforward electronic payment.
The Tamm platform outlined its terms of service, stating that the account balance is updated two hours after a transaction is finalized. When using public transport buses, passengers are required to present a valid buses card to the electronic payment device. Upon a successful scan, the device will display a green message, confirming the card's validity and authorizing access to the public transport service in a smooth and orderly manner.
When exiting public transport buses, it is essential to swipe your bus card on the electronic payment device inside the vehicle. This action deducts the fare corresponding to the distance traveled and displays the remaining balance on the card at the end of the trip. If the bus card is expired, lacks sufficient funds to cover the full fare, or does not have a valid permit, the electronic payment device will display a red error message indicating that the card is invalid, and the public transport service cannot be accessed.
Passengers are advised to always swipe their bus cards on the electronic payment device both when boarding and disembarking, regardless of the trip’s length, to avoid being charged for the full route. Before traveling, it is essential to verify the validity of the card at authorized outlets that issue and update bus card features.
