Chaired by Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Executive Council has approved the initial allocation of land plots for Emirati citizens scheduled for 2026, marking a major step in supporting housing and investment opportunities across the emirate.
The first phase of the allocation includes a total of 1,200 land plots, with 490 designated for residential use and 710 earmarked for investment purposes. The move reflects Sharjah’s ongoing commitment to enhancing citizens’ quality of life, supporting family stability, and encouraging economic participation through accessible land ownership and development opportunities.
Officials noted that the allocation forms part of the emirate’s broader housing and urban development strategy, which seeks to meet growing demand for residential plots while simultaneously stimulating local investment and sustainable growth. The investment-designated plots are expected to encourage entrepreneurial initiatives and private-sector participation, contributing to Sharjah’s diversified economic landscape.
In addition to the land allocation initiative, the Council also approved a feasibility study for an advanced air transport project aimed at strengthening Sharjah’s position as a regional hub for innovative mobility and logistics. The proposed project will explore the introduction of state-of-the-art air taxi services alongside modern cargo transportation solutions, aligning with global trends in smart mobility, sustainability and advanced aviation technologies.
According to officials, the study will assess technical, economic and operational aspects of implementing such services within the emirate. The initiative is expected to be developed in collaboration with leading international partners specialising in next-generation aviation and urban air mobility systems.
The planned project seeks to enhance intercity connectivity, support efficient cargo movement and provide fast, environmentally conscious transportation options. It also complements Sharjah’s long-term development vision, which emphasises smart infrastructure, innovation and sustainable urban expansion.
Together, the land allocation programme and the proposed air transport initiative underscore Sharjah’s continued efforts to invest in infrastructure, empower citizens and strengthen its role as a forward-looking economic and logistical centre in the region.
