Inspections held at beauty centres, barbershops

In line with its commitment to protecting public health and safety and enhancing the quality of services provided to the community, Abu Dhabi City Municipality carried out awareness and inspection campaigns to ensure compliance with health requirements at women’s beauty centres and men’s barbershops, both inside and outside Abu Dhabi Island. The campaigns aimed to raise awareness among facility owners and staff of the importance of adhering to public hygiene and health regulations.

During the campaigns, municipal teams conducted intensive daily inspection visits to the targeted establishments to verify compliance with all required standards.

The teams also raised awareness among employees about the importance of maintaining public cleanliness and adhering to mandatory health requirements, in order to protect the health and safety of community members.

Municipal inspectors ensured the suitability of materials used in services provided to the public, the availability of sterilisation equipment for tools, and the effectiveness and quality of sterilisation processes.

They also educated staff on the risks associated with using tools without proper sterilisation, such as nail grooming tools, hair-cutting equipment, and other instruments.

The campaigns resulted in the issuance of a number of warnings to non-compliant establishments, with follow-up actions undertaken to monitor adherence to the required standards. Inspection teams further alerted facility owners to the importance of maintaining personal hygiene among staff, including washing, cleaning, and sanitising hands before and after providing services, wearing gloves during service delivery, and disinfecting all parts of tools used for activities such as hair cutting, henna application, and cosmetic services after each use by spraying approved disinfectants.

Inspectors also stressed the need to allow disinfectants to remain for a minimum of two minutes, in addition to ensuring the proper operation of sterilising ultraviolet light and the internal lighting within tool storage units.

It is worth noting that Abu Dhabi City Municipality organises these campaigns continuously throughout the year in various areas, in order to preserve the health and safety of community members, and to promote awareness among the owners of these establishments and their employees regarding the requirements that must be met, in order to provide safe and distinguished services to the public.
