General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Zakat (GAIAE), revealed that the Authority will distribute 90,000 copies of the Holy Quran, at the expense of the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to mosques across the UAE, strategic partners, and the public during the Holy Month of Ramadan, according to Dr. Omar Habtour Al Darei, Chairman of the GAIAE.
Dr Al Darei also pointed to the launch of the "Family Khatma – Loyalty and Fidelity" initiative, which involves each family completing a full Quranic recitation (Khatma) dedicated to the founding rulers of the UAE, with approximately 6,000 Khatmas expected.
He showed the GAIAE's most prominent achievements, strategic plans, preparations, and programmes during the Holy Month of Ramadan, in the presence of Authority officials.
“This year's Ramadan comes under the "Year of the Family" initiative launched by The President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.”, Dr Al Darei stated during the GAIAE's media briefing for 2026, noting that it designed its plan to welcome the Holy Month taking into account family and community values, through programmes and initiatives which include all components of the Emirati home, while utilising the best technical and digital means and qualified human resources, and in cooperation with various partners at the federal and local institutional levels.
He explained that the GAIAE started its preparations for this season several months ago, by qualifying its human cadres and preparing mosques and their facilities to ensure the best services, with the support of the wise leadership.
