Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), in partnership with the Central Finance Department, has launched the "Masar" toll gate for trucks. This initiative is designed to improve the electronic system for collecting heavy vehicle transport fees across the emirate.
The project aligns with Sharjah's strategic focus on expediting digital transformation and enhancing smart infrastructure, adhering to leading global standards in traffic management. Masar exemplifies the collaboration among government entities to improve service efficiency and deliver innovative technological solutions that promote sustainability while strengthening the emirate's position as a competitive and advanced logistics hub.
Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority in Sharjah, emphasized that the innovative Masar project for digital fee collection from commercial trucks marks a significant milestone in the institutional workflow. This initiative reflects the Authority's dedication to advancing comprehensive digital transformation in alignment with global best practices for managing and regulating heavy transport movement.
He highlighted that the project utilizes an intelligent mechanism powered by cutting-edge sensing and artificial intelligence technologies. This enables highly accurate and instantaneous vehicle data reading, effectively replacing the conventional manual system with advanced digital solutions. These improvements enhance operational efficiency, minimize human intervention, and significantly boost the accuracy and reliability of collection processes.
Al Othmani highlighted that Masar goes beyond merely enhancing the collection mechanism. It plays a crucial role in supporting the seamless and efficient flow of traffic by minimizing idle time and streamlining the movement of trucks through designated checkpoints. This initiative is expected to have a significant positive impact on the transport sector within the emirate.
He stated that the project upholds the values of transparency and efficient oversight by utilizing precise monitoring systems and real-time reporting. This approach facilitates decision-making informed by reliable data, aligning with efforts to achieve environmental sustainability by minimizing congestion and emissions. It also reinforces the Authority's pioneering role in advancing infrastructure development to the highest international standards, in harmony with Sharjah’s vision of establishing a smart and sustainable transportation system. This system aims to support the overall development process and improve the quality of life across the emirate.
Waleed Al Sayegh, Director General of the Sharjah Central Finance Department, highlighted that the project represents a strategic collaboration between various government entities in the emirate. It aims to accelerate digital transformation by connecting the electronic toll gates for trucks with the digital wallet system of the smart payment gateway, Tahseel. This integration enhances service connectivity and improves the efficiency of financial collection processes.
He emphasized that the integration of Tahseel as a digital solution for the project offers flexible and secure payment options, helping speed up transaction processes, ensure precise collections, and enhance transparency. He further highlighted that Masar is a key pillar in realizing Sharjah's vision of becoming an advanced smart city, thereby strengthening the emirate's position as a prominent regional logistics hub.
