The Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Sharjah Police seized 8 vehicles whose drivers performed reckless stunts during rainfall last week, endangering their lives and the lives of road users, and legal measures were taken against them.
Brigadier Khalid Mohammed Al Kai, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Sharjah Police, explained that these negative behaviours by some individuals expose them to legal accountability, thus spoiling moments of enjoying the beautiful weather.
He added that the police recorded a number of violations, including: driving a vehicle in a manner which endangers one's life and the lives, safety, and security of others, according to Article No. (1) A of the Federal Traffic and Road Law, which entails a fine of Dhs2,000, 23 traffic points, and an impoundment period of up to 60 days.
Also the violation of driving a vehicle on the road without a number plate, which entails a fine of Dhs3,000, 23 traffic points, and an impoundment period of up to 90 days, according to Article No. (4) of the Federal Traffic and Road Law.
Sharjah Police emphasise that adherence to traffic laws is a fundamental pillar for preserving lives and property, and that safe driving is a reflection of community awareness. They call on community members to cooperate and report any practices that threaten the safety of roads and their users, by calling "999" for emergency and critical cases only, and "901" for non-emergency cases, embodying the principle of community partnership for a safe traffic environment.
