Sharjah Charity International (SCI) carried out 'Warm Winter Campaign' in Syria as part of a field visit aimed at assessing the needs of affected families and enhancing the presence of humanitarian work on the ground.
The visiting delegation was headed by Abdullah Sultan Bin Khadim, CEO of the SCI, Mohammed Hamdan Al Zarri, Assistant CEO for Offices and Foreign Affairs, and Khalid Al Ali, Director of Projects and Foreign Aid Department.
Bin Khadim stated that the visit programme included a series of official meetings with the Ministry of Social Affairs, during which the government's plan to end the camps was reviewed and the main challenges related to the housing file were discussed, in addition to exploring mechanisms for rehabilitating families and enabling them to become self-reliant through supporting productive projects.
The delegation also held a meeting with the Ministry of Health, during which ways to support the health sector were discussed, as well as the needs of hospitals and mechanisms for equipping them with essential supplies, in addition to exploring opportunities to support mobile clinics and implement specialised medical campaigns targeting the most vulnerable groups.
Bin Khadim explained that comprehensive aid, donated by Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), was distributed to 1,500 families in the areas of Shebaa, Al Harjan, and Deir Al Asafir, which the delegation monitored.
The aid included 1,500 food parcels, 1,500 hygiene parcels, 4,000 pieces of winter clothing for children, 1,500 men's jackets, 1,500 women's jackets, 1,500 boys' jackets, and 1,500 girls' jackets.
The campaign also included the distribution of 3,000 winter blankets to the most needy families.
Bin Khadim indicated that the implementation of this campaign is an extension of the SCI's approach to direct access to beneficiaries and addressing real needs on the ground, which reflects the SCI's message of supporting people wherever they are without discrimination.
Bin Khadim thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the UAE Embassy in the Syrian Arab Republic for the facilities and cooperation they provided, which contributed to the success of the delegation's mission and the implementation of the campaign with the highest levels of organisation and professionalism.
He also thanked Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) for its donation to the campaign.
