Ras Al Khaimah: Ras Al Khaimah Police have warned against a new criminal method used by some individuals for illicit financial gain, which involves fake vehicle insurance advertisements.
The police issued an awareness bulletin through their official accounts and social media, including a set of tips and guidelines, urging vehicle owners and drivers to ensure that the insurance company is licensed and accredited by the competent authorities before completing the payment process. They urged people not to be swayed by offers which provide excessively low prices, and to avoid transferring any money to personal accounts or unofficial numbers.
The police also called for ensuring the receipt of an official and accredited insurance policy immediately after completing the insurance process, and to be wary of fake or unverified accounts on social media platforms, and to report any suspicious offers immediately.
Brigadier Dr Tariq Mohammed Bin Saif, Director General of Police Operations in RAK, affirmed RAK police's keenness to continue enhancing the awareness and educational aspect among all segments and individuals of society, due to its great importance in protecting them from falling into the trap of fraudsters and scammers, and the resulting financial losses.
He also warned vehicle owners and drivers against being drawn into illogical insurance offers, whose promoters seek to practise deception and fraud in order to attract the largest number of victims and achieve financial gain at their expense, stressing that RAK Police would deal firmly with anyone who dared to violate regulations and laws and commit crimes which harm individuals and society.
DUBAI POLICE WARN AGAINST ONLINE CHALLENGES: Dubai Police warned of the danger of deadly challenges spreading on social media platforms, which include dangerous behaviour and practices for children and adolescents, and pose a direct threat to their lives, including the "skull breaker" challenge, "choking", "holding breath", and other reckless and deadly practices.
The police explained that these challenges, which spread on social media platforms, attract young people and adolescents looking for entertainment and excitement, without realising the serious consequences of participating in them, as some of these challenges have resulted in severe injuries and deaths among participants in some countries.
Dubai Police also called on parents to play a pivotal role in educating and supervising their children, stressing that responsibility is shared in protecting young people from the negative impact of some clips and information on the Internet and not to be swayed by peer pressure or the desire to show off.
The police called for the necessity of reporting any dangerous or wrong practices by calling the call centre 901, or reporting through the "Police Eye" service on the Dubai Police smart application.
