SCI launches Dhs150 million Ramadan charity campaign

Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has launched its Ramadan drive “Jood 2026” to spend Dhs150 million on a number of charity projects including Iftar meal, helping needy people besides other charitable projects.

A new mobile application was also unveiled marking a step that reflects its commitment to keeping pace with technological advancement and enhancing the quality of services provided to donors and beneficiaries.

In this regard a press conference was held at House of Wisdom, Sharjah and attended by Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Charity International, and Sheikh Saud Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah Digital Department.

The event also attended by members of the Board of Directors, Executive Director Abdullah Sultan Bin Khadem, a number of sector heads and department directors, as well as representatives of local media outlets.

Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Member of the Board of Directors, said: “the association takes pride in the participation of Sheikh Saud Bin Sultan Al Qasimi in the launch of the smart application, considering this presence a form of moral support for the association’s institutional development journey and a reflection of government entities’ commitment to empowering charitable work through modern digital solutions.

He added that the association continuously strives to provide donors with an advanced experience based on ease of use, transparency, and fast access to projects and services.

He pointed out that the new application ranks among the advanced platforms in the charitable sector due to its modern technical features, most notably the AI-powered smart assistant that enables users to interact easily and obtain information quickly.

He emphasised that the application was fully designed and developed by the association’s internal IT team, reflecting the high level of professionalism reached by its staff and their ability to manage sophisticated technological projects with strong efficiency. He added that naming the smart assistant “Ahmed” came under the direction of Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, inspired by the meanings of praise and gratitude, and in appreciation of the association employee who proposed the application idea, in a gesture that reflects the culture of recognition adopted by the association.

For his part, Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem reviewed the details of the Ramadan campaign “Jood 2026,” explaining that the campaign aims to raise Dhs150 million in donations, while Dhs71 million has been allocated as an operational budget to implement programs and projects during the holy month. The objective is to reach more than two million beneficiaries inside and outside the UAE.

He confirmed that the allocations include the distribution of 1.3 million iftar meals locally and internationally, providing Ramadan food baskets to 25,000 registered beneficiaries, supporting 35,000 beneficiaries through Zakat Al Fitr, and covering 3,000 beneficiaries under the Eid clothing initiative. He further noted that Dhs 4 million has been allocated to the patient treatment initiative, Dhs3 million for debt relief cases, and Dhs1 million to support housing assistance programs, in addition to operating the mobile iftar initiative in a number of countries covered by the association’s international aid programs.

He clarified that the Jood campaign represents the association’s flagship campaign, with its donations contributing to approximately 40% of the total volume of charitable projects implemented by the association throughout the year.

Bin Khadem called on philanthropists to support the campaign’s projects through the smart application and all available donation channels, emphasising that every contribution creates a tangible impact in the lives of thousands of families and individuals and reflects the spirit of solidarity that characterizes UAE society.
