Abu Dhabi Police warn residents against fake ads and cyber frauds

Abu Dhabi Police have called on community members to remain vigilant when interacting with online advertisements. They highlighted that some unidentified entities are misusing search engines, job portals, and property websites to spread fraudulent links aimed at stealing users' personal information.

Authorities stressed the need to rely on official and trusted applications for making purchases or accessing services through digital platforms.

Fraudulent tactics have advanced to incorporate deceptive websites that appear legitimate but are, in reality, fake pages crafted by scammers.

These individuals take advantage of low-cost ads on search engines to draw in unsuspecting victims and extract their personal or financial information. The stolen data is subsequently utilized to present appealing deals or unusually low prices designed to entice more targets.

To safeguard property against various forms of fraud, the police stressed the importance of verifying the authenticity of electronic links, securing credit cards, engaging only with trusted websites, and steering clear of platforms with dubious credibility.

Additionally, they advised using official applications endorsed by government authorities or those available on reputable app stores.

The police highlighted the necessity of interacting solely with trusted links and avoiding the entry of credit card details or passwords on unfamiliar websites. They also underscored the importance of not disclosing sensitive information to anyone. This includes account or card details, online banking passwords, ATM PINs, security codes (CCVs), and other passwords.

The police called on community members to promptly report any fraudulent attempts through Aman. Reports can be made by dialing 8002626, sending a text to 2828, using the Abu Dhabi Police smart app, emailing [email protected], or accessing the police station service on mobile devices. They emphasized their ongoing commitment to raising security awareness and combating cybercrime, which aligns with their strategic priorities to enhance safety and security while aiming to prevent crime effectively.
