As part of its plan to maintain and develop the road network in vital areas to improve the quality of services and enhance the quality of life in the city, Al Ain Municipality has completed maintenance and development work on parts of Maitha Bint Mohammed Street and Bani Yas Street.
These projects are part of the municipality’s continuous efforts to improve road efficiency and enhance traffic safety and urban appearance.
The work included the maintenance and rehabilitation of parts of Maitha Bint Mohammed Street in several locations, with a total length of approximately four kilometres, said Eng. Hamad Rashid Al Kindi, project manager.
This included the rehabilitation of asphalt layers, improvement of infrastructure, implementation and development of a 2-km rainwater drainage network in addition to landscaping work in the median islands of the implemented sections, he added.
The works also included the development of a number of roundabouts on Maitha Bint Mohammed Street and improvement of traffic flow at intersections with an area of 24,000 square metres with a view to raising the level of traffic safety and improving the flow of traffic, he said.
The works carried out on Bani Yas Street in the Hili area included the implementation of dedicated pedestrian walkways and bicycle tracks with a length of two kilometres, in addition to landscaping work on both sides of the road and in the central island to enhance the safety of road users and improve the aesthetic appearance of the area, he added.
