The Anti-Fraud Centre of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police warned of posts on social media that promote recruitment and employment services for domestic workers.
The Centre noted that these offers are made by fraudsters who are seeking to obtain financial gain illegally.
The Anti-Fraud Centre urged those looking to hire domestic workers to only deal with licensed and authorised firms in the country. It also advised against transferring money to any party that claims to be able to hire domestic workers outside of the approved legal methods and procedures that protect the rights of all parties.
As part of its ongoing 'Be Aware of Fraud' campaign, the Centre stressed the importance of constant vigilance and cautions in order to avoid falling victim to any type of fraud, and of dealing only with authorised and trusted establishments.
The Centre further urged people to report fraud crimes or attempted fraud immediately through the Dubai Police smart application or the eCrime platform for reporting cybercrime. Alternatively, they can call 901.
