With over 50,000 workers and their families in attendance, Dubai showcased a vibrant humanitarian scene filled with joy and satisfaction. This reflects the city's ongoing commitment to fostering happiness among its residents and establishing an institutional approach based on appreciation and community partnership.
Major General Obaid Muhair Bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, confirmed that organising labour celebrations on various occasions, such as New Year and public holidays, is in line with the directives of the UAE government.
The government believes that every resident of the UAE is a partner in development and has the right to celebrate and express their happiness on these days.
He explained that the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs aims to organise these events in a professional and sustainable manner that reflects Dubai’s civilised image and humanitarian approach.
He pointed out that these celebrations are not just for entertainment, but also boost workers' morale and make them feel appreciated and part of the team. This has a positive impact on the work environment and benefits employers too.
Major General Bin Suroor praised the role of government and private entities as partners in the event's success, emphasising that joint cooperation was a key factor.
He singled out Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and the Roads and Transport Authority for special mention, as well as the sponsoring and supporting companies, for the support and active participation they provided.
He pointed out that collaboration between government entities and the private sector is fundamental to the success of celebrations and labour gatherings.
He noted that companies play an important role in supporting such initiatives, whether through sponsorship, participation or organisational cooperation, which enhances job stability and establishes a positive work environment.
He explained that the activities include entertainment programmes and awareness messages for workers in security, safety and other areas. These contribute to raising awareness and promoting a culture of responsibility, reflecting the government’s concern for the various categories of the working community.
Major General Obaid Muhair Bin Suroor affirmed that these celebrations have a profound impact on the workers, their families and their children. He noted that the scenes of collective joy, in which tens of thousands of workers and their families participated, embody Dubai’s ongoing commitment to creating happiness and improving quality of life for all its residents.
