Traffic teams managed to seize a vehicle after monitoring a video clip circulating on a social media platform, showing its driver committing a series of dangerous traffic violations in various locations in Dubai, jeopardizing the safety of road users, said Brigadier Juma Salem Bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police.
The driver’s violations included emitting flames from the vehicle’s exhaust due to illegal modifications, driving at high speed and causing noise and disturbance to road users, he added.
These dangerous actions might cause serious traffic accidents because they cause other drivers to get distracted and hence lose control over their vehicles, he said.
Dubai Police deal with these serious violations firmly because they have negative effects on traffic safety and public tranquility, he added, stressing that the road is not a place for showing off and that any wrong use of the road would expose the vehicle driver to strict legal accountability.
As a result of their dangerous violations, drivers’ vehicles would be impounded and they have to pay up to Dhs10,000 to release their impounded vehicles in line with the provisions of local decree no. 30 for 2023, he said.
Dubai Police continue to monitor what is published on social media platforms, respond to public reports and deal seriously with any content that shows dangerous traffic behaviours as part of their commitment to enhancing traffic safety and protecting lives and property, he added.
Bin Suwaidan reiterated his call to drivers to abide by traffic laws and not to make any illegal modifications to vehicles that affect their safety or cause disturbance, stressing the importance for them to have a sense of responsibility and traffic awareness and to respect the rights of others to use roads safely.
Maintaining traffic discipline is a shared responsibility and compliance with the laws reflects the civilized awareness of the Dubai community and contributes to establishing a safe and sustainable traffic environment for all, he said.
