Sharjah Police handle 6,620 emergency calls on New Year's Eve

The Sharjah Police General Headquarters announced the success of its comprehensive security plan, which was implemented to welcome in the New Year of 2026.
The operations rooms dealt with 6,620 emergency calls via the 999 call centre and 1,100 non-emergency calls via the 901 call centre. They also responded to enquiries and provided support and guidance around the clock, meeting the highest standards of readiness and response speed.

The Sharjah Police stated that the success of the plan and the achievement of its goals, as well as the provision of a safe atmosphere during the celebrations, were due to the high level of preparedness, proactive planning and efficiency of police personnel, field integration with strategic partners, public awareness and commitment to instructions and guidelines issued, and the civilised behaviour shown by the public.

They also stressed the continuity of their security plans and the raising of levels of field and operational readiness, which enhances the quality of security in the emirate and maintains security and stability during various occasions and events.
