Abu Dhabi Police have adopted their operational strategy to ensure public safety and manage traffic during New Year’s Eve celebrations across the emirate as 2026 approaches.
The plan, coordinated with strategic partners, aims to ensure the flow of traffic and ease traffic congestion and to protect visitors while maintaining order in one of the busiest periods of the year.
Brigadier Mohammed Dhahi Al Humeiri, Director of the Central Operations Sector, explained that Abu Dhabi Police have prepared a joint security plan to secure tourist areas, commercial centres and traffic during the New Year celebrations, to ensure the security and safety of the public.
The Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols in the Central Operations Sector confirmed its readiness to enhance traffic safety by taking the necessary precautions and measures, and urged road users to pay attention and abide by the traffic law, the speed limits, and not to be preoccupied with the phone while driving, and to leave a sufficient safety distance between vehicles.
Abu Dhabi Police also warned the public against uncivilised practices such as the use of spraying types of "party spray," driving the vehicle recklessly and noise, and called for adherence to the guidelines.
Abu Dhabi Police advised road users to provide protection and safety and create the atmosphere for the success of events and activities in a way that achieves happiness for the public during celebrations.
The Command and Control Centre completed its preparations for the New Year, according to Colonel Ali Muftah Al-Eryani, Director of the Operations Department, stated that Abu Dhabi Police provided the best devices, technologies and qualified human cadres in the "Operations Room". He called for not hesitating to contact the Central Operations Room in case of emergency by calling 999 around the clock.
