The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicts light to moderate rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, primarily over the islands and in northern regions. On Wednesday, meanwhile, there will be clouds and intermittent rain mostly over the sea and in the far north of the country.
From late on Saturday night until the early hours of Sunday morning, varying intensities of rainfall were witnessed across the country, starting over the waters of the Arabian Gulf and the islands and then extending to the coastal areas, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah. During the day, the rain spread to the northern and eastern interior regions, with Saqr Port recording the highest amount of rainfall at 12.5 mm.
Satellite images and weather radar data revealed a decrease in cloud cover across the country on Monday. Clouds were primarily over the sea, the inlands and some northern and eastern regions, which reduced the likelihood of rainfall.
The NCM further predicts the end of rainy conditions on Thursday and Friday. These will begin in the west and gradually spread to cover Abu Dhabi late on Thursday and early on Friday. It will then continue during the day on Friday, reaching the northern parts, the city of Al Ain and the eastern areas. Cloud cover may decrease in the evening and at night, and will have mostly disappeared by Saturday. There will also be a low probability of rain, with the possibility of low clouds over the far north of the country. Limited rainfall is also expected.
Due to the unstable weather conditions during this period, some local cloud cover is expected, particularly during the day.
Winds will be southeasterly to the northeasterly, shifting to the northwesterly, and will be moderate to brisk, occasionally strong, especially when there are cumulonimbus clouds. These winds will stir up dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility. The waves will range from slight to moderate, becoming rough at times, particularly in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman when there is cloud cover.
