As part of a comprehensive road maintenance and operational efficiency improvement plan, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) is implementing a temporary closure on Abu Ubaidah Bin Al Jarrah Street in Khorfakkan. The closure is intended to enhance traffic flow and improve road safety.
The work will affect the two sections of road between the Batha 4 roundabout and the roundabout leading to Al Bardi 3. A traffic diversion plan has been approved to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow during the construction period. This reflects the RTA's ongoing commitment to upgrading road networks across the emirate to meet quality standards and keep pace with urban development and growth.
The closure will begin on Monday, Dec.15, 2025 and continue until Friday, Dec.19, 2025.
During this time, technical teams will be working to implement a range of development and preventive maintenance works to improve road quality and enhance traffic safety. This will include addressing some issues that require technical solutions, as well as implementing general improvements to the surface structure, which will improve the road's efficiency in the future.
Alternative routes
In coordination with the Sharjah Police, clear alternative routes have been adopted to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Traffic has been diverted through the Al Bardi 3, Al Bardi 7, Batha 1 and Batha 4 areas, enabling drivers to reach their destinations with minimal delay.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has urged all road users to follow directional signage, adhere to alternative routes and follow safety instructions, both for their own safety and that of others.
The RTA has emphasised its commitment to completing the work according to the announced schedule and restoring normal traffic flow once the development is finished.
