In cooperation with Parkin, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has warned the public about unauthorised QR codes appearing on some parking signposts in the emirate. They have urged caution and advised against scanning or interacting with any codes or links from unknown sources or those not issued through official channels.
Both entities affirmed that such practices can be used to mislead or lure users to untrusted websites. They stressed the importance of verifying payment methods before use and of avoiding entering any personal data or information via unknown links or codes.
The RTA and Parkin urged the public to use only approved payment methods, such as official apps, SMS services and dedicated payment devices. They also called for any suspicious activity to be reported immediately through official channels, in support of efforts to raise awareness and protect users from fraudulent activity.
