His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved two projects to improve traffic flow in the city of Sharjah.
The first project involves upgrading the 5km Sharjah Ring Road adjacent to the Etihad Rail station in Sharjah City, with the aim of reducing pressure on the Mleiha Road. It also involves upgrading the University City Bridge to four lanes, with two lanes in each direction, ensuring smooth traffic flow up to the Rakan Bridge.
As for the second project, it involves the construction of a new bridge next to the Martyrs' Monument in Sharjah City at a cost of Dhs60 million, which will serve as a route for those coming from Mleiha Road towards Mohamed Bin Zayed Road without stopping, as well as for those coming from Sheikh Khalifa Street towards Mleiha Road.
This was announced by Youssef Khamis Al Athmani, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority in Sharjah (SRTA), on the Direct Line programme.
