Dr Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the President of the UAE, via (X) directed an appeal to the Sudanese army commander Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, calling for urgent agreement to an immediate humanitarian truce.
Gargash stated via the platform: "We urge Burhan to urgently agree to an immediate humanitarian truce, the priority must be protecting civilians and opening access for humanitarian aid throughout Sudan."
Separately, Gargash has affirmed that the move by US President Donald Trump to classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organisation is a strategic, courageous and historic decision.
“This decision addresses one of the most important roots of extremism, which is how an armed group, along with many of its proxies and others, has altered its narrative by using Islam as a political tool,” Gargash said in statements to CNN, adding that this move would affect their ability to finance and organize.
Gargash explained that the link between the Sudanese army and its commander Abdel Fattah Al Burhan on one hand and the Muslim Brotherhood on the other is an organic link.
“We have also seen that some of the main fighting forces in the Sudanese Armed Forces in this brutal three-year civil war were in fact Muslim Brotherhood battalions led by Muslim Brotherhood commanders with the aim of reinstating themselves and returning to the Khartoum government,” he said.
Earlier, Gargash had affirmed that Sudan future couldn’t be dictated by violent extremist groups associated or evidently linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.
“False claims and misleading information will not deter us from continuing to work with regional and international partners to end the war in Sudan,” he said, stressing that there was no military solution to the war in Sudan and the UAE would welcome the American leadership and its efforts to end the atrocities in Sudan.
