Using his personal account on the Instagram application, an Asian man incited a minor girl outside the country to commit acts contrary to public morals.
The court convicted him and sentenced him to a fine of Dhs5,000, confiscating his phone in the process. The Court of Appeal upheld the ruling.
The details of the case date back to December last year, when a report was received from the International Child Protection Centre in the United States.
The report stated that the accused, who was living in the United Arab Emirates, had seduced a girl under the age of 18 and incited her to commit acts contrary to public morals by sending her pornographic videos and pictures and asking her to perform inappropriate acts over the telephone.
A police officer involved in the investigation said that the team had tracked the suspect's account and identified him.
He was summoned to the police station, where he denied the accusations.
His phone was confiscated and sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis of the data stored on it, including his social media accounts.
The forensic laboratory report from Dubai Police indicated that the suspect possessed three folders containing 18 indecent videos, as well as several conversations in which he had incited a young girl to pose in compromising positions and had asked her to perform indecent acts over the phone.
In its ruling, the court explained that the accused had used the Instagram to seduce a young girl and had asked her to send indecent photos of herself via voice chat.
The court convicted him and issued the aforementioned ruling, which was upheld by the Court of Appeal.
