A large number of medical experts during the 2nd Pharmacy Academy Medical Conference have underscored the importance of strengthening the clinical role of pharmacists, advancing medication safety, and promoting evidence-based practice.
The conference was organised by iConference and was attended by 650 professionals in-person and over 1,000 virtual attendees at Conrad Hotel Dubai.
The conference was also attended by a large number pharmacists, clinicians, and healthcare leaders across the region and took active part in the series of insightful lectures, hands-on workshops, and interactive scientific sessions.
The event reaffirmed Dubai’s growing role as a leading hub for continuing medical education and pharmaceutical innovation. The conference was co-chaired by Dr. Yanal Sallam, Consultant in Internal Medicine and Head of the Internal Medicine Department at Emirates Hospital Jumeirah, and Dr. Wael Atef, Head of Pharmacy at Emirates Hospital Jumeirah.
In their opening remarks, they emphasised the importance of strengthening the clinical role of pharmacists, supporting medication-safety initiatives, and advancing evidence-based professional practice. The conference witnessed extensive participation from major global pharmaceutical companies, including Lilly, Abbott, Bayer, Hikma, and AbbVie, along with leading pharmacy chains and health-insurance providers. Exhibitors showcased the latest advances in pharmaceutical therapy, patient-support programmes, digital health solutions, and enhanced pharmacy services.
The scientific agenda featured more than 40 specialised lectures covering a wide range of medical and pharmaceutical topics, including internal medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, pediatrics, dermatology, ENT, oncology, psychiatry, and clinical pharmacy.
Sessions also explored medication-safety updates, strategies for reducing medication errors, the pharmacist’s role in primary care and chronic-disease management, and the impact of digital innovation on pharmacy practice.
