Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Follow-up and Control Centre, arrested five reckless drivers who committed traffic violations, including dangerous overtaking on the right, overtaking on the shoulder of the road, failing to leave a sufficient safety distance, and failing to adhere to the mandatory lane, which resulted in traffic congestion and endangered the safety of drivers.
The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police appealed to motorists to respect traffic rules and driving ethics, avoid wrongful behaviour on roads, and leave sufficient and safe distance to avoid sudden stops of vehicles without warning on the roads and during traffic flow on internal roads.
The police also called on motorists to avoid overtaking other vehicles incorrectly, to make sure the road is clear when overtaking or changing lanes, not to move between lanes in a reckless way that endangers the driver and others, and to use turn signals when wishing to change lanes.
Motorists were also warned against overtaking on the shoulder of the road, which is allocated for emergencies and emergency vehicles.
