Ras Al Khaimah Police arrested four drivers for racing in one of the emirate’s areas, impounded their vehicles and applied strict regulations against them as their serious violation posed a threat to the safety and lives of others.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Al Zaabi, Deputy Director of Traffic and Patrol Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, a report was received about a number of vehicles racing each other on a street in the area.
Based on this, the racing vehicles, which numbered four, were identified and monitored using Ras Al Khaimah Police’s smart city systems and modern technologies.
The necessary legal measures were taken against the offenders and their vehicles were impounded in accordance with the strict regulations and systems in force in the emirate, he said.
The vehicles were impounded for 120 days and a fee of Dhs10,000 should be paid for releasing each vehicle, he added, noting that each driver would be fined Dhs2,000 and get 23 black points in their traffic files.
Al Zaabi stressed the need for drivers and road users to fully abide by traffic regulations and laws and avoid such serious violations that posed a high risk to both the perpetrators and the public in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategic goals in enhancing security and safety and making roads safer.
