The Abu Dhabi Police have urged drivers to adhere to safe driving practices, maintain a safe distance and avoid distractions while driving, and to observe the 80 km/h speed limit during fog formation.
The police have confirmed that they are working to alert drivers to slow down due to fog.
This will be done through various means, such as urgent alerts via social media for followers of the Abu Dhabi Police accounts, early warning messages in areas where the speed reduction system is activated, which will be sent to smartphones when dense fog begins to affect visibility.
Other measures include smart gate screens on all external and internal roads, electronic directional signs on the left side of the road, automatic control systems, the public transport system ('preventing buses and trucks from moving during speed reduction in fog'), and coloured lights ('red, blue' and 'yellow').
Owners of heavy vehicles (trucks and buses), company owners and those responsible for transporting workers were urged to remind their drivers to adhere to safe driving guidelines in foggy conditions and to take stronger preventive measures to avoid accidents in such weather.
This is to ensure the safety of everyone.
