Eight-year-old aspiring author Manaal Akbar from Dubai captivated audiences at the Sharjah International Book Fair with her book, “The Unordinary Series: Magical Moments.” She lives in Dubai with her parents, brother and sister.
Her book follows six brave friends as they embark on a thrilling quest beyond their familiar attic into a world filled with mystery, magic, and danger. From the enchanting Dandelion Village to confronting cruel spirits and treacherous challenges, the story unfolds as a journey of courage, friendship, and self-discovery.
Speaking about her inspiration, Manaal said the idea came from the thought that “you can explore the world but still return to your gloomy, dust-covered attic.” Her storytelling, rich in imagination and emotion, reflects wisdom beyond her years, earning praise from festival-goers and fellow readers.
“The Unordinary Series: Magical Moments” is Manaal's first foray into the literary world - and a shining example of how young minds are sparking creativity at the Sharjah International Book Fair. During her interview at the fair, Manaal further explained how young writers could start creating their own stories.

“When J.K. Rowling was just six years old, she decided to write a story. At seven, she started writing her first story – and it really inspired me.”
