In a humanitarian gesture that embodies the values of cooperation and community responsibility, Brigadier General Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, accompanied by Brigadier General Saeed Obaid Rashid Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director General, visited two girls who had been rescued from drowning near Al Mamzar Beach in Sharjah.
This visit provided an opportunity to check on the girls' health and safety following their rescue, which was made possible by the rapid response and community cooperation.
During the visit, Brigadier General Yousef Al Shamsi expressed his happiness at the safety of the two girls.
He stressed that the efforts of the Civil Defence teams in the field, combined with individuals' awareness of their social responsibility, form an integrated system for protecting lives.
He emphasised that the Authority appreciates humanitarian actions that demonstrate cooperation and courage, and that saving lives is the ultimate national duty.
Such actions, he said, instill in society a culture of giving and shared responsibility.
He added that the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety procedures at marine sites and swimming areas. He noted that awareness is the first line of defence against danger.
He emphasised that Sharjah Civil Defence continues to spread a culture of prevention and intensify awareness programmes targeting families and children, in order to ensure a safe and sustainable environment that aligns with the wise leadership's vision of making human safety a national priority that takes precedence over all other considerations.
Following the visit, Brigadier Saeed Obaid Rashid Al Suwaidi honoured Qassim Mohammed Al Sayed Mahmoud in appreciation of his courage and immediate response in rescuing the two girls, reflecting the highest values of cooperation and responsibility.

The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has urged all beach and pool users to adhere to safety guidelines, ensure that children are never left unattended in or near the water, and keep rescue and first aid equipment ready.
It is also important to monitor weather conditions and ocean currents before swimming. The authority emphasised that protecting lives is a collective responsibility, beginning with awareness and ending with safety, and that this helps ensure that the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE remain safe environments for all who live in or visit them.
