In a post on the X platform on Friday, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, tweeted in Arabic, "Forty years ago, on Oct.25, 1985, the first Emirates flight took off. With it, our great ambitions soared into the sky."
Sheikh Mohammed added, "It has become one of the world's best airlines. It connects us directly to 152 cities and carries people and their dreams and ambitions to and from Dubai. Over the course of its journey, it has transported more than 860 million people across the continents of the world."
Sheikh Mohammed also said, "Today, Emirates is one of our national sources of pride, one of the most important drivers of our development journey and one of the world's leading airlines."
He continued: "Thanks to Ahmed Bin Saeed and to his team that consists of over 100,000 employees, who work tirelessly to ensure that Emirates remains an unparalleled Emirati success story."
