His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, in the presence of Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, reviewed the latest projects of the International Charity Organisation (ICO) in the Syrian Arab Republic during a meeting with an ICO delegation at the Ruler’s Court.
Sheikh Humaid praised the ICO’s tireless efforts, commending its ambitious plans and initiatives in Syria and other parts of the world, which reflect the UAE’s enduring commitment to supporting friendly and brotherly nations.
“The humanitarian projects carried out by the Organisation embody the values of generosity and cooperation,” the Ajman Ruler said.
“They reflect the UAE’s civilised and humanitarian role in supporting causes of compassion and solidarity regionally and internationally.”
During the meeting, Sheikh Humaid was briefed on the details of the ICO’s projects, including target locations, implementation timelines, and quality assurance standards, emphasising the importance of ongoing coordination with relevant entities to ensure the success and sustainability of these initiatives.
Sheikh Humaid directed the philanthropic oganisation to intensify its efforts in the coming period and to continue launching new initiatives aimed at supporting affected communities, enhancing social and economic stability in targeted areas, and improving the living conditions of families in need.
He was also briefed on the ICO’s field visits to several Syrian governorates and its comprehensive set of humanitarian and charitable projects designed to meet the urgent needs of the most vulnerable families.
Several Sheikhs and officials attended the meeting.
Recently, the ICO had announced the launch of a package of development, service, and relief projects in the Syrian Arab Republic, with a total value of Dhs8 million, as part of its ongoing efforts to support communities affected by the consequences of the conflict.
Dr. Khaled Abdul Wahab Al Khaja, Secretary-General of ICO, who will lead the delegation visiting Syria, explained that the new projects aim to meet the basic needs of the Syrian people through the construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of schools and mosques, drilling wells to secure safe drinking water, sponsoring orphans and underprivileged families, as well as providing healthcare, and distributing dates and food parcels.
These initiatives align with the Organisation’s mission of promoting sustainable development and improving quality of life, he said.
He added that the visit embodies the UAE’s approach and the vision of its wise leadership in supporting humanitarian causes, stressing that the ICO is committed to monitoring its projects on the ground to ensure that donations are directed through the proper channels, thereby achieving a direct impact on the lives of beneficiaries.
Dr Al Khaja also expressed appreciation for the support of Sheikh Humaid, and for the contributions of philanthropists in the UAE, which represent a key driver for the success of the Organisation’s initiatives.
He noted that ICO has already started implementing a number of projects, including the maintenance of wells, schools, and mosques, as well as food aid programs, ensuring that assistance reaches thousands of needy families in affected areas.
The ICO revealed that the value of its projects during the first half of 2025 reached Dhs222 million, distributed across a wide range of humanitarian and development programmes and projects both within the UAE and abroad.
ICO spent Dhs74 million for humanitarian and development projects inside the UAE and Dhs148 million across 20 countries worldwide.
Orphan Sponsorship and Care ranked at the top of the implemented projects, amounting to Dhs56 million in support of more than 62,000 orphans, followed by mosque construction and furnishing projects, particularly in Africa, reached Dhs23 million. In the health sector, projects worth Dhs23 million were executed.
