The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a man to pay Dhs10,000 in compensation to a woman he assaulted.
The assault caused her material and moral damages, as well as grief, sorrow and emotional distress. He had previously been convicted in a criminal case filed against him.
The plaintiff filed a lawsuit against the defendant, requesting that he pay her Dhs250,000 in compensation for material and non-material damages, as well as covering costs, expenses, and legal fees.
She filed her lawsuit on the basis that the defendant had assaulted her, causing her to suffer damages. He was convicted in a criminal trial, which prompted her to file the present lawsuit.
The Court explained that, according to the previous criminal judgment, the defendant had assaulted the complainant, causing her to suffer material damages in the form of injury, as well as moral damages in the form of sadness, grief and hurt feelings.
These damages were caused by the defendant's actions, which is why the court has ruled that the complainant should be compensated for all material and moral damages suffered to the value of Dhs10,000.
