The Dubai Police General Command has warned community members, particularly parents, about the dangers of children imitating the "burning evil dolls" trend seen in videos circulating on social media, whether in public places or at home. They emphasised that such behaviour is dangerous and could lead to devastating fires, serious injury or even death.
To coincide with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the Dubai Police urged parents to monitor their children's online behaviour and educate them about the dangers of imitating unsafe trends that are spreading on social media. They noted that these videos are primarily intended to attract views and do not consider the risks and disastrous consequences that could result from setting fire to highly flammable materials such as fabric, plastic or synthetic hair used in dolls, which could cause suffocation or fires in enclosed spaces.
The Dubai Police stressed the importance of immediately reporting any content that incites or encourages such practices to the security authorities, whether on social media or in chat groups. They emphasised that posting or re-sharing dangerous clips is illegal and could result in legal action, as it endangers oneself, others or property.
The police also urged all members of society to be digitally savvy and not to be influenced by content designed to arouse curiosity or imitate horror scenes. They emphasised that security and safety must take precedence over entertainment.
