Represented by the Patrols Department and the Security Media Department, the Sharjah Police General Command launched a field awareness campaign aimed at reducing the random parking of vehicles around mosques, particularly during Al Jum'ah (Friday) prayer.
Lieutenant Colonel Marzouq Khalfan Al Naqbi, Director of the Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, explained that the campaign was based on observations of the area and traffic patterns, which had revealed random parking, congestion and traffic obstruction.
He added that Sharjah Police had adopted an awareness-raising approach to address these issues by distributing warning leaflets to offending drivers bearing the message: 'Parking behind vehicles causes traffic congestion and wastes other people's time.'
Al Naqbi emphasised that the campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to raise traffic awareness and encourage adherence to traffic laws. He explained that traffic discipline is a civilised behaviour that demonstrates respect for society.
The Sharjah Police called on drivers to park properly, emphasising that compliance with traffic regulations demonstrates awareness and responsibility, contributing to smooth traffic flow and the safety of road users.
