Mohammed Diab Al Mousa (Abu Hatem), the educational adviser to His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, passed away after a distinguished career in education, thought and guidance.
The deceased was a virtuous educator and dedicated teacher who contributed to the education of many students over the years, passing on his knowledge and values.
Born in Kafr Ana, Palestine, in 1933, Mohammad Diab Al Mousa was a talented individual.
He devoted his life to advancing education, culture and the media in Palestine, Jordan, Kuwait and the UAE. In 1945, he helped set up regular schools in Sharjah. From 1957 to 1981, he held various roles in the Ministry of Education in several Arab countries, including director, educational supervisor and administrative official.
From 1981 to 1989, he was the inaugural Director of the Cultural Department, the first government department at state level to focus on culture.
Notable achievements during his tenure included organising the first international book fair and numerous cultural events in the emirate, under the directives of Sheikh Sultan.
From 1989 to 1998, he served as Director-General of the Sharjah Television and Satellite Channel.
From 1997 to 1998, he was Vice-Chairman of the Supreme Council for Coordination between Arab Satellite Channels.
From 1998 to 2000, he was Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Childhood in Sharjah.
In 2000, he was the educational adviser to the Ruler of Sharjah.
The funeral prayers for Mohammad Diab Al Mousa will take place on Saturday October 11, 2025, immediately after the noon prayer at the Al Sahaba Mosque in Sharjah.
Men may offer their condolences at Al Raqqa Suburb Majlis on Saturday evening, after the Maghrib prayer until 9pm.
On Sundays and Mondays, prayers will be held from 9:00am until noon and from 4:00pm until evening. Condolences for women will be accepted at the deceased’s home, which is located opposite Al Jarina Stores in Sharjah.
