Vehicle crashes into overpass staircase and shatters into pieces in Turkey

A tragic car accident in Turkey late at night claimed the life of a young driver after his vehicle crashed into a pedestrian overpass staircase in the Haliliye district of Şanlıurfa.

According to reports, the fatal crash occurred on Recep Tayyip Erdogan Boulevard in the Paşabagi neighbourhood. A car bearing the licence plate 34 JR 2536, driven by Şiyar Yıldız (22), reportedly lost control at high speed and slammed into the steps of the overpass. The violent impact caused the vehicle to overturn and shatter into pieces, ejecting Yıldız onto the road.

Emergency services were immediately notified by bystanders who witnessed the collision. Paramedics from the 112 Emergency Call Centre arrived at the scene and provided first aid before transferring the injured driver to the Haliliye Annex of Mehmet Akif İnan Training and Research Hospital. Despite medical efforts, Yıldız succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. His body was later transferred to the hospital morgue.

The horrific accident was caught on a nearby security camera, which captured the exact moment the car crashed into the overpass staircase, scattering debris across the road as the driver was thrown from the vehicle.

Local authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash, which has shocked residents in the Haliliye area.
