The Anti-Fraud Centre at the General Criminal Investigation Department of the Dubai Police has warned the public about fake advertisements for part-time jobs with attractive salaries that are currently circulating on social media and some online platforms.
To coincide with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Dubai Police have confirmed that these suspicious ads are merely a means used by fraudsters to lure and exploit victims in illegal activities.
Such activities include opening bank accounts in victims' names, transferring funds from unknown sources and carrying out other fraudulent crimes.
The Centre urged members of society to exercise caution, verify advertisers and not share personal or banking information with unknown parties when applying for jobs on social media or electronic platforms.
They also advised staying away from offers requesting financial transfers or personal account information and immediately reporting suspicious advertisements via the eCrime app or by calling (901).
Dubai Police stressed that public awareness is the first line of defence against fraudsters and helps prevent people from falling victim to fraudulent adverts that could expose them to legal action due to the exploitation of their personal data.
