A Bangladeshi expatriate living in Sharjah has become the latest multi-millionaire after winning Dhs20 million in the Big Ticket draw, Series 279, held in Abu Dhabi.
Harun Sarder Nur Nobi Sarder, 44, struck gold with ticket number 035350, which he purchased on September 14. Speaking moments after his life-changing win, he humbly introduced himself to the show’s hosts Richard and Bouchra, saying: “Ok, ok. I am in Sharjah from Bangladesh. I am a private taxi [driver]. Ok, thank you.”
The overjoyed winner revealed that he intends to share his prize with 10 people. “I am sharing this with 10 people,” he said, expressing gratitude for the fortune that has come his way.
Sarder, who has worked as a taxi driver since moving to the UAE in 2009, has spent the past 15 years building his life in Abu Dhabi while his family remains in Bangladesh. For years, he has regularly purchased Big Ticket entries, holding on to the hope that one day he would win.
Though he has yet to decide how to use the Dhs20 million prize, he said he is eager to continue participating in future draws. “I encourage others not to give up on their dreams because with Big Ticket, no dream is ever too far,” he added.
