The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a man to pay a woman Dhs110,000 after he fraudulently advertised on Instagram that he owned a gold shop. The plaintiff transferred the money to him, but he kept it and did not provide her with any gold. She filed a complaint against him, resulting in criminal charges being brought against him. The court issued the above-mentioned ruling as a result.
The case dates back to when the plaintiff filed a lawsuit against the defendant, requesting that the court order him to pay her Dhs110,000 plus fees and expenses.
The basis of the lawsuit was the complainant's claim that the defendant had fraudulently advertised on Instagram, claiming to own a gold shop. She transferred the requested amount to him to purchase gold, but he kept the money and did not provide the gold.
