Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah on Tuesday, presided over the Council’s weekly meeting at the Ruler’s office. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice-Chairman of the Executive Council, as well as Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice-Chairman of the Executive Council, were in attendance.
During the meeting, the Council discussed a variety of government issues affecting all sectors to monitor and reinforce the emirate’s growth by implementing additional services and facilitation measures that support societal stability and cohesion while also ensuring dignified living standards for families.
In accordance with His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Council approved the launch of the Sharjah Census 2025 project, which is part of the emirate’s plans to collect diverse demographic, social, and economic data on its population.
This will provide a comprehensive image of Sharjah society and its requirements, as well as support for evidence-based decision-making using data and statistics.
The Sharjah Census 2025 will be conducted in three phases. It will start with a full count of Emirati households via phone interviews on 15th October, followed by a full count via in-person field interviews on 3rd November, and it will end with population estimates through office work in early January 2026.
The preliminary results will be published in the first quarter of 2026, followed by the final results in the second quarter.
Following the guidance of the Ruler of Sharjah to help citizens build their homes and create extra income for a better life, the Council approved the second round of land grants for 1,500 people, including 550 residential land grants and 950 investment land grants across various cities and areas of Sharjah.
Recently, in implementation of the directives of the Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at enhancing social stability and providing a decent living for the people of the emirate, the Council approved the first batch of beneficiaries of residential and investment land grants, numbering 2,000 beneficiaries, with 1,200 beneficiaries of residential land grants, and 800 beneficiaries of investment land grants, distributed across the various cities and regions of the emirate.
The Council reviewed a presentation on the housing study project for the Emirate of Sharjah until the year 2050, which aims to develop a comprehensive and sustainable housing plan for the emirate based on a comprehensive assessment of the housing sector, anticipating future needs, and developing integrated housing policies.
The importance of the study comes in its quest to provide a realistic model for population growth within the cities and regions of the emirate, preparing a roadmap for housing work efforts, and benefiting from modern and sustainable construction techniques.
The presentation included the timeline for preparing the study, and the main social, urban, and economic axes of the study, providing integrated outputs within the vision of the Government of Sharjah.
Earlier this year, the SEC approved the first 2024 batch of individuals exempt from paying housing loans, which included 50 beneficiaries from various cities and regions of the Emirate, with a total amount of Dhs34,195,000.
The SEC also approved the launch of the new identity for the Emirate of Sharjah.
The new identity, in all its visual, artistic and cultural components, will reflect the history of the Emirate of Sharjah, express its cultural heritage, artistic excellence and social cohesion, and play a major role in promoting the growth of the Emirate’s various sectors.
The SEC discussed a draft resolution regarding the regulations governing the work of suburban councils in the Emirate of Sharjah, directing it to include a number of observations and legal provisions that support the work of the councils.
