The General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police arrested a criminal gang of 7 Asian suspects, led by a drug trafficker from outside the country. The gang, which specialises in drug trafficking, promotes the drugs in various geographical locations, aiming to hide from police.
Brigadier Khalid Bin Muwaiza, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, explained that the operation came after extensive investigations, enquiries, and meticulous field surveillance, during which the teams monitored the suspects' movements and coordination among them.
The police then stormed the residence of the first suspect where they found a quantity of crystal meth in his possession, Bin Muwaiza said.
He noted that investigations revealed the first suspect received instructions from a drug trafficker outside the country to distribute the drugs in two different locations, each containing 1 kilogramme.
"We set up a tight trap which led to the arrest of the remaining six suspects, including those who placed the drugs in the locations and those who came to collect the hidden quantities," Bin Muwaiza added.
Further investigations revealed the gangsters used to distribute the narcotics in different geographical locations for exchanging quantities or giving them to users. They allegedly worked with an international gang outside the country to traffick in drugs.
Bin Muwaiza clarified that the total seizures amounted to nearly 26 kilogrammes of narcotics and 27,913 Tramadol tablets, including various types such as crystal meth, hashish, heroin, and marijuana. He emphasised that Dubai Police would continue their efforts to enhance the community's protection and security from this dangerous scourge.
Bin Muwaiza stated that arresting the suspects and thwarting their plan is a testament to the advanced system of operations by Dubai Police, including artificial intelligence technologies and qualified and specialised human resources with efficiency and professionalism to detect and confront crime in all its forms. He pointed out that Dubai Police would strike down anyone who attempted to undermine community security and sever the ties of criminals and drug traffickers, even if they were outside the country.
