His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the launch of the first part of his new book, ‘Life Taught Me.’
The 35-chapter book documents milestones in Sheikh Mohammed’s career and his leadership and intellectual philosophy in the policy of people, policy of governance and policy of life, thereby serving as a cognitive and intellectual reference for current and future generations.
“The best legacy we leave behind is not money, nor construction and buildings, but rather true wisdom, beneficial knowledge, and kind words that transcend the boundaries of time and homeland and benefit everyone everywhere,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
In the preface to his book, which will be available in bookstores on September 25, Sheikh Mohammed said, “In a few years, I will have completed 60 years in public work; 60 years that passed quickly with their challenges and achievements, joys and sorrows, crises and surprises. They were 60 years in which I gained friends, and because of my accomplishments, I also had envious people; 60 years in which I lost loved ones: my father, mother, brothers and others. But I gained a lot: a nice family, righteous children, good citizens and a country that has become the talk of the people and the world.”
“I wanted this book to be simple in its words, frank in its expressions and true in its meanings, so that it would touch people’s hearts. I have learned a lot from life, and perhaps the biggest lesson I have learned is that I am not perfect, but rather a human being who learns and develops, grows and matures, loves and hates, grows stronger and weaker, and constantly changes. However, the one constant that has remained throughout more than seven decades of my life is that I loved my country, my people and my family,” he added.
“Allah is my witness that I loved my people and did my utmost for them to live a decent life. Allah is my witness that I neither wronged anyone knowingly, nor did I take away anyone’s right, nor did I imprison an innocent person, nor was I cruel to the weak, nor did I hesitate for a moment in any decision or project that would serve people and improve their conditions and lives,” he said.
The book’s launch embodies Sheikh Mohammed’s commitment to sharing his rich expertise and experience in all fields, making it a valuable addition to the Arab library and a source of inspiration for leaders, decision-makers and the new generation of young people aspiring to shape the future.
