A government institution in Sharjah which has played a major role in the fruition of ideas into technological advancements within nine years, has up-scaled its website and has created a new corporate video, to widen more its 8,000 current registered innovators – a leap of 5,000 more from its 3,000 2023 data – from around the world.
This is the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) within the University City of the emirate that formally launched on Tuesday as well, its new visual identity and slogan, “Inspiring the Inspired.”
Established through a decree in 2016 of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, thrust of the SRTIP is to drive inventions by using the triple helix model whereby stakeholders within the academe, industries, and government, get interconnected with one another.
Among the most-recent assisted technological advancement projects is the AHB’s Dialog XR, a knowledge-based large language model chatbox artificial intelligence platform for global scalable solutions. It was presented at the June 2025 “Born in Sharjah, Built for the World”-themed “Business Breakfast.” From the sidelines of the Tuesday “Business Breakfast – From Ideas to Impact: Sharjah Leads the Way,” SRTIP Strategic Communications and Marketing director Juma Abdulla Alhaj explained that the triple helix model is significant because it is a channel through which “academic researchers can seek provision.”
He elucidated: “For example, research just dies in the laboratories. One of our goals is to connect the research individuals to the right entities which may provide the right funding support. The government may market the products and services to the world. The role we play is an introductory service of all the research set-up and completed at SRTIP.”
“We also act as a free zone. We have packages for start-ups like the setting up of physical offices at the SRTIP so they can have less stress on the demands. We ease the demands for them. We give them the platforms they need to research and flourish,” Alhaj continued. Thus, the upgraded accessible website, running since “last week.”
On the relevance of building one another up and in connection with the SRTIP new slogan “Inspiring the Inspired,” Alhaj replied: “The UAE is a very unique model. We are such a diverse community living in one space. It is only fitting that we learn from each other and inspire each other.”
“We push each other forward for the advancement of industries in general. The UAE was built on community and building that community, supplying that community is the core of ‘Inspiring the Inspired,’” he pointed out.
Alhaj was asked on his take on the relevance of inspiration because, mentioned in the new 15 to 20-minute corporate video, is that while ideas may be small or extremely outlandish, “an idea never chooses its moment; an idea comes unexpectedly, usually when we are doing something else; an idea simply requires paying attention; an idea may just start with a detail; an idea grows richer when shared. We just have to know how to look” and get inspired to go for it. The Arabic and English corporate video, now available in all SRTIP social media platforms, features the cross cultures who represent the SRTIP global network of scientists-innovators encompassing “start-ups and scale-ups, majority are virtually licensed,” as well as stakeholders, encompassing the realms of healthcare, manufacturing, sustainability and mobility “because there is a lot of research to be done in these.”
Moreover, the concentration on these four sectors is particularly aligned with the UAE National Vision: “We are the UAE 2031” towards economic diversification from the basic oil and oil-based production and exports; enhanced quality of life and well-being of the Emiratis and UAE residents; and active UAE international participation in sustainability and mobility, for the benefit of all.
On the “renewed visual identity logo,” a departure from the Tyrpan Blue-Tufts Blue-Azure Blue triple helix, Alhaj said: “The renewal of our identity represents a pivotal moment in our journey to enhance Sharjah’s status as a capital of innovation. It is an expression of our vision and mission to serve as an inspiring platform for entrepreneurs, researchers and investors, and as a global centre for advancing technologies that support sustainable development.”
