Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) has installed 6,121 new smart water meters and replaced 70,445 existing meters from the beginning of 2025 until the end of July 2025. This brings the total number of smart meters installed or replaced in Sharjah City to 267,552.
Engineer Faisal Al Sarkal, Director of the Water Department at SEWA, emphasised that all projects and initiatives are aligned with the vision and directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aiming at developing advanced infrastructure, driving digital transformation, and adopting smart systems.
Al Sarkal added that the smart water meter project is a key initiative within SEWA’s efforts to achieve digital transformation, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce water loss.
He noted that the ongoing installation of smart meters reflects SEWA’s commitment to providing the best services to citizens and residents, while building a sustainable future for the Emirate of Sharjah.
He further stated that the replacement of mechanical water meters with smart meters is continuing across various areas and districts according to a planned schedule.
