The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Registration and Licensing Authority (ADRA), has shut down and penalised 11 domestic worker recruitment offices in Al Ain.
These offices were found operating without proper licences or using licences issued by authorities outside Abu Dhabi, violating the Domestic Workers Law and its executive regulations.
MoHRE said it imposed legal and administrative penalties, including fines, and referred the cases to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
In a press statement, MoHRE highlighted public complaints about these offices, such as failing to fulfil commitments to families and employers.
It urged customers to verify they are dealing with licensed recruitment offices and provided a list of authorised offices on its website.
According to MoHRE, customers can report negative practices by contacting MoHRE at 600590000 or the Labour Consultation Centre at 80084, emphasising the need for recruitment offices to comply with laws, provide competitive services, and warned of strict inspections to address violations transparently.
Earlier, MoHRE announced penalising 40 recruitment offices nationwide in the first half of 2025 for 140 violations of the Domestic Workers Law. It also closed 77 unlicensed social media accounts used for illegal recruitment activities, in partnership with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).
