The Government of Ajman has issued a decision prohibiting the parking of petroleum transport vehicles in areas of the emirate other than the designated parking areas.
The resolution stipulates that the Higher Energy Committee in Ajman shall be responsible for monitoring and proving violations, and for imposing administrative penalties on those who commit them, through the relevant judicial enforcement officers.
Fines range from Dhs5,000 for an initial offence committed by a vehicle, to Dhs 10,000 for a subsequent offence. A third offence may result in a fine of up to Dhs20,000 and the vehicle may be impounded and sold at a public auction organised by the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department.
The decision authorises the Supreme Energy Committee to impose additional penalties on licensed facilities that fail to comply with the law, including the suspension or revocation of petroleum product trading permits. The decision also authorises the immediate removal of any violations in densely populated areas or where there is a threat to public safety, at the owner's expense.
The decision will come into effect 30 days from the date of its issuance.
